Manilla and the war in the Pacific

During this individual tour you visit some of the best highlights in and around Manilla: City tour & Taal vulcano. We take a boatride to the second world war batlefield of Corrigodor Island and visit the hard won (initially lost) Bataan peninsula. While driving through the severly affected landscapes of the Pinatubo eruption we visit the starting point of the infamous "Deathmarch" and the former biggest American airbases on foreign soil: the now deserted Clark Airbase. Famous during the heydays of the Vietnam war.

Short Description: We start in the lively capitol of the Philippines, Manilla. During a whole day City tour we visit the Rizal Park, execution place of Philippines well known hero "Jose Rizal", The old spanish town between war torn walls "Intramuros" and the Manilla Cathedral. Very Impressive is the old Spanish fort Santiago, build to protect Manilla against raiding parties like the Dutch. Or visit the Chinese Cemetery. Quite unusual to visit a cemetery during your holidays but this one is very special. It looks like a complete suburb with streets and houses equipped with airconditioning, hot and cold running water and sometimes even a mailbox ! After a full day visit to Corrigodor Island we visit Lake Taal and on the back of a horse climb the Taal Vulcano. We continue our trip north to Angeles City where we will overnight in a nice hotel with swimming pool, set in a lush tropical garden. From here we will visit the Bataan peninsula and the former American "Clark" Airbase. This airbase was closed right after the eruption of the Pinatubo vulcano in 1991 but during the heydays of the Vietnam war this was one of the most important bases for bomb raiding flights. At the end of this most impressive tour we will transfer you back to Manilla or you may continue the trip with a spectaculair trip through the "Mountain Province".

Departure&Arrival: This tour (normally) starts in Manilla, however you may book from Cebu as well. A domestic flight from Cebu to Manilla takes aprox. one hour and will cost you an additional 75 euro per person (one way) if booked in combination with this tour. Excluding a terminal fee of aprox. 200peso to be paid after check in at the airport.
